How we collect, use and protect the personal details you share with us.

Last updated: 5 November 2026

1. Who we are

St. Mary's Pre-University College, Chikkamagaluru ("the college", "we") runs saintmarys.in. The college is managed by the Holy Spirit Educational and Charitable Trust. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the college is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here: we decide why and how it is used.

This policy covers personal data collected through saintmarys.in and the admission enquiries made through it.

3. Why we use it

We use your details only to answer your enquiry and run admissions, and only with your consent.

  • Enquiry details: to call or message you about admission, give you an enquiry reference number, and guide you through the admission process.
  • IP address: to stop automated or repeated submissions of the enquiry form.
  • MATS registration: to arrange the test, pickup and lunch, and to consider scholarships.
  • Analytics: to see which pages are used, so we can improve the website.

The lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the enquiry form. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We do not use it for any other purpose without asking you again.

4. Students under 18

Most of our applicants are under 18, so we treat enquiries as coming from a parent or guardian. The enquiry form asks for the parent's name and phone number, and the consent box must be ticked by a parent or guardian, or with their permission. We follow the DPDP Act's rule that a child's data needs a parent's or lawful guardian's consent.

We do not use children's data for targeted advertising, and we do not process it in any way likely to harm a child's well-being. If we learn that a student sent an enquiry without a parent's or guardian's consent, we will contact the parent or delete the enquiry.

5. Who we share it with

We never sell personal data. Inside the college, enquiry details are seen only by the admissions staff who follow them up. Outside the college, only these service providers handle data for us:

9. Cookies and third-party content

The website sets two cookies of its own, both needed for it to work, and Google Analytics sets its own cookies.

10. Security and changes to this policy

The website uses HTTPS, enquiry records are reachable only by signed-in college staff, and the form blocks repeated automated submissions. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

We will update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top of this page.
